New York Attorney General Charged With Federal Bank Fraud Indictment
A national judicial panel brought charges against Letitia James for bank fraud on Thursday, per someone with knowledge of the case.
The US attorney for the eastern district of Virginia handled the presentation of the charges to the grand jury this Thursday, the person said.
US attorneys do not typically present to a grand jury.
Halligan was appointed as US attorney the previous month following the president expressed dissatisfaction regarding the progress of investigations against his rivals.
This step is the president’s latest effort to leverage the Department of Justice to penalize opponents.
This occurs 14 days after Halligan obtained indictments involving Comey.
Experienced attorneys prepared a memo for that matter detailing why charges lacked merit.
Comey pleaded not guilty recently.
